and Susan Hunter studied goldsmithing with Balinese masters from 1973
until 1979.

Then
from 1979 to 1985, they lived in the island nation of Sri Lanka, learning
first hand from the gem traders and cutters. There they also, studied
via correspondence with the GIA (Gemological Institute of America).
